Dionna Marie Beavers
Keeping the beat on drums is Cleveland, Ohio, native Dionna Marie. After earning her BA in Professional Music from the Berklee College of Music, she moved to Detroit, where her virtuoso talent and eclectic taste helped her become an established presence on the local music scene. Demonstrating a mastery of pop, rock, R&B, funk, gospel and neo-soul, Dionna has played with local and national artists including: renowned saxophonist Darron McKinney; all-female jazz group Straight Ahead; legendary Motown keyboardist Rudy Robinson; and Daughter of the Blues Ejuana “Fire” Taylor. She’s even fronted her own funk/R&B band called GroovEssential. Currently, she’s backing BeatMob international recording artist Yvette Meadows, wowing the crowds at their club gigs around town and at regional festivals like River Days; Arts, Beats and Eats; and Winter Blast. When not performing, she enjoys her second favorite passion—giving drum lessons to students.
