“It’s gonna be fun.” – July 28

This session, the script was unveiled and the ensemble had their first full read-through of the summer. As the ensemble read through the show, they made final adjustments while celebrating one another’s creativity and hard work.

After checking in and doing the ring exercise, the ensemble gathered to read through the complete production. The read-through was timed to give the group an idea of the length and pacing of the show.

As the read-through continued, writers made small edits to their scripts and actors got a feel for the piece they were cast in. Throughout the evening, participants celebrated one another’s writing.

One piece in particular received praise from the group, one member enthusiastically said,

“I’m glad I didn’t hear this until now. That is GOOD!”

After the read-through, the ensemble discussed costumes, music, and other production details that will help bring the performance to life. Reflecting on the experience, one participant shared,

“I feel good. It’s not too short and not too long for the audience. It’s gonna be fun. I can’t wait to incorporate the costumes, props, and music.”

The session concluded with the ring, marking the beginning of the final stage of preparation as the ensemble turned its focus toward rehearsals and blocking.
