playwright, poet and author Pearl Cleage. The Chicago Tribune called the play “a nuanced exploration of
class, privilege, generational wealth and family betrayal”. Set in 1964 in Montgomery, Alabama, as the
Nacirema Society is preparing for its 100th anniversary debutante ball, audiences are invited to step into
Cleage’s keenly observed world of African American Society. With young love brewing, old family skeletons
